CCTA General Manager
The Chittenden County Transportation Authority seeks a General Manager
The General Manager serves as the organization’s chief executive officer and oversees a five county transit organization that in 2011 had approximately 200 employees, an operating budget of $18M and a capital budget of $6M. The General Manager has strong leadership skills, a proven track record of executing a strategic plan, and encourages long-range strategic thinking in an ever changing public transportation climate. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Forward the mission of the organization by carrying out all policies and directives established by the Board of Commissioners
- Responsible for fostering a high-performing and professional culture throughout the Authority
- Articulate a compelling vision for the region’s public transit system that makes our service a more utilized and valued asset
- Work collaboratively with the Board in developing and meeting its goals and objectives, including facilitating organizational support of Board committee work
- Engage in strategic planning in conjunction with the Board and implementation of such plan
- Responsible for organizational management and structure
- Supervises, evaluates and directs all members of the Senior Management team
- Develops and manages the organization’s annual budget
- Responsible for safety, insurance, and all other risk management functions within the organization
- Responsible for managing legal issues affecting the Authority including collective bargaining
- Primary responsibility for local, state and federal government relations
A Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred. The salary range is open, dependent upon qualifications, and is accompanied by an excellent benefits package.
Essential Job Skills and Abilities: Must possess excellent financial management, leadership, analytical, organizational, public speaking and communication skills; demonstrated experience in customer relations and strong interpersonal skills that foster collaborative working relationships with the board, employees, and the community. Must have experience in labor negotiations with a union.

Operations Manager
Manages the safe and efficient daily delivery of CCTA’s bus service, including management of Operations Supervisors, Bus Drivers, and
Kiosk Customer Service Representatives; collaborates with other departments in developing and implementing transportation plans, programs, and procedures to support the Authority’s mission. Ensures the staff meets or exceeds the Authority’s goals regarding safety,
security, quality, and customer service. Develops the Department’s annual operating budget, manages activities within the approved budget, and forecasts future budget requirements. Presents monthly reports to CCTA’s Board of Commissioners. Must have the ability to manage in a unionized work environment. The Operations Manager
reports to the Assistant General Manager.

Full and Part-time Bus Drivers
The Chittenden County Transportation Authority is looking for full and part-time Bus Drivers. Our Bus Drivers provide excellent customer service, have a great driving record and a positive team attitude. A clean CDL class-B license with air brake and passenger endorsements is required.
CCTA will train ideal candidate without class B License and/or endorsements. Candidates must pass background checks, drug screening, and medical evaluation.

Part-time Customer Service Representative
CCTA is seeking part time customer service representative for our Cherry Street Kiosk. This front-line position requires strong customer service skills, an attention to detail, a positive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile for our passengers. This is a Saturday position, approximately 8 hours/week. Applicants should have previous customer service experience. A familiarity with CCTA’s services is preferred.

Wash Rack Crew Chief
The Wash Rack Crew Chief performs daily vehicle servicing and leads wash rack personnel on CCTA vehicle and equipment maintenance as directed. Responsi bilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance, assisting with the maintenance of shop facilities and equipment, and cleaning and fueling vehicles
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Previous work experience or training in the automotive mechanical field preferred. The minimum age for all employ ees in this position is 21. A CDL and clean driving record are required, as well as basic mechanical aptitude.

The successful candidate must own some basic tools, possess a clean driving record, and be able to pass background investigation, drug screening, and medical evaluation. CCTA offers on the job training for new hires to obtain a CDL-B license.

Custodian
Our custodian position is ideal for a hard-working, detail oriented, flexible person who likes to work independently. As a custodian, you will be responsible for light maintenance of the inside and outside of the buses to assure passenger comfort. All materials will be provided for you, along with training.
